Please …

My first reaction to Obama’s Cairo speech was that it was better, and less one sided than I expected.

I later decided however that Obama grossly erred by suggesting that Israel has a right to exist because of the Holocaust, since it plays directly into Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s hands.

Ahmadinejad continually claims that the West gave the Jews Arab land because of what they “supposedly” suffered at the hands of the Nazi’s.

Obama should have made it clear that the Jews have a right to Israel because huge numbers of them were forced out of their land 2000 years ago, and that Israel is their birthright, full stop.

Instead he attempted to make a false equivalency;

“Around the world the Jewish people were persecuted for centuries. And anti-Semitism in Europe culminated in an unprecedented holocaust. Tomorrow I will visit Buchenwald, which was part of a network of camps where Jews were enslaved, tortured, shot and gassed to death by the Third Reich. Six million Jews were killed, more than the entire Jewish population of Israel today”.

“On the other hand, it is also undeniable that the Palestinian people, Muslims and Christians, have suffered in pursuit of a homeland. For more than 60 years, they’ve endured the pain of dislocation. Many wait in refugee camps in the West Bank and Gaza and neighboring lands for a life of peace and security that they have never been able to lead. They endure the daily humiliations, large and small, that come with occupation. So let there be no doubt, the situation for the Palestinian people is intolerable. And America will not turn our backs on the legitimate Palestinian aspiration for dignity, opportunity, and a state of their own”.

That many Palestinians (there were none before the ’67 war) have, and are suffering is undeniable, but to equate their suffering with the Holocaust is certainly refutable, because there is no equivalence whatsoever. None.

Arabs got displaced in 1948, 1967 and in 1973 and a solution needs to be found, but at most we’re talking about 61 years and tens of thousands of people, and not a race of people that were in the Diaspora for two thousand years.

Obama should have stressed, that following the Holocaust that many Jews simply returned to a land that they were forced to leave two thousand years ago because they saw the need to return to their homeland, but he didn’t.

Whether he focused on the Holocaust, and not on the Jew’s historical right to the land of Israel because he doesn’t know better, because his speech writers knew no better, or because it was intentional, we’re never likely to know.

What is for sure, is that American’s don’t like self-abasement in general and from their President in particular.

They didn’t like their president bowing to Saudi King Abdullah, which is where the majority of the 911 terrorists came from.

And if you saw the photos and weren’t sure whether it he bowed or not, then take a look at the video content.

He bowed, and you bow to a superior.

Insider sources said that President Obama could not hide how impressed he was with King Abdullah, and added that he “listened intently to everything said”.

The Presidential Approval Index from Rasmussen looked like this on June 6, 2009.

How much Obama’s gradual, but steady fall from grace can be linked to his continual abasement of the U.S. is hard to say, but his penitent, humbled and even sycophantic face is one that has not accompanied American foreign policy since the 1970s.

Public self-examination and self-abasement can perhaps be a sign of strength, but Arabs certainly don’t see it that way, and you have only to consider the words of Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to understand that,

” It is the power of Muslims which has made the new US administration try to portray a new image”.

The premise of the blog entry is false. There is no blood relation between the Ashkenazi jews and people who originated in Israel. Ashkenazi jews were converts to judaism as established in kingdoms such as Khazaria in ancient times. It was a path for Germanic traders for trade with China and religious folkways and resettlement occurred with people in Eastern Europe. The only jews of Israeli descent are the Sephardic jews and the Arab jews. Less than 10% of the people who occupy Israel today.
