Please note that it was made 6 years ago.

Israel is certainly no angel, and both its politicians and its army make their fair share of mistakes.

But regardless of whether you’re pro or anti Israel, you’ve surely got to admire its upside and wish that other countries could or would achieve the same positive results.

I just came across the following map and stats, and whilst I found the whole thing interesting, I wondered if it was really accurate.

So I just spent a couple of hours checking out the sources, and as far as I could see, everything is 100% accurate.

The majority of the stats were taken from either:

or The US Census Bureau

America: Strengthened by Its Support of Israel By David Meir-Levi In the first in the series of articles analyzing US foreign aid to Israel, the present writer posed five questions: 1.) Why is there an Israel-USA "special relationship," an alliance …

New Report: Israel Adds Strong Strategic Contribution to US

Robert D. Blackwill and Walter B. Slocombe, who both served under Democratic and Republican administrations recently presented the Washington Institute for Near East Policy with a thesis asserting that:

"Israel and the United States enjoy a special alliance which has a strong strategic contribution to US security".

"The United States has taken advantage of access to unique Israeli capabilities in key ‘niche’ areas of military technology. Israeli technology promotes American interests. Increasingly, US homeland security and military agencies are turning to Israeli technology to solve some of their most vexing technical problems.

"Through joint training and exercises as well as exchanges on military doctrine, the United States has benefited in the areas of counter terrorism cooperation, tactical intelligence, and experience in urban warfare".

"Counter terrorism and intelligence cooperation is deep and extensive, with the United States and Israel working to advance their common interest in defeating the terrorism of Hamas, Hezbollah and al-Qaeda; sharing information, supporting preventive actions, deterring challenges, and coordinating overall strategy".

"In the vital realm of missile defense cooperation, the United States has a broad and multifaceted relationship with Israel, which is its most sophisticated and experienced partner in this field".

"Israel’s national missile defenses will be an integral part of a larger missile defense architecture spanning Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Persian Gulf that will help protect US forces and allies throughout this vast area".

Walter B. Slocombe

Born September 23 1941, Slocombe is a lawyer and career federal official.

He joined the staff of the National Security Council in 1969 and prior to that he worked as a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas.

He was Under Secretary of Defense for Policy in the Clinton administration (1994–2001) and was the Senior Advisor for Security and Defence to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad (2003).

He is a four-time recipient of an award for Distinguished Public Service and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and currently practices law with the Washington firm of Caplin & Drysdale.

Robert D. Blackwill

Born August 8 1939, Robert Dean Blackwill is an American lobbyist and retired diplomat.

He was the United States Ambassador to India (2001–2003), and United States National Security Council Deputy for Iraq (2003–2004), where he was a liaison between Paul Bremer and Condoleezza Rice.

More From The Report

"Israel’s integrated, multi-layered command-and-control network contributes to the US military’s ability to defend against the Iranian missile threat".

"Israel and the US enjoy broad intelligence cooperation, and this intimate relationship reinforces overall US intelligence efforts by providing Washington with access to Israel’s unique set of capabilities for collection and assessments on key countries and issues in the region, since Israel is able to focus resources and attention on certain targets of central importance to the United States.

"As Israel’s strategic intelligence collection capabilities mature, this cooperation and exchange of intelligence information will increasingly serve US national interests".

The Pros Easily Outweigh The Cons

"We do not deny that there are costs to the United States, in the Arab world and elsewhere, for its support of Israel. We are, however, convinced that in a net assessment those real costs are markedly outweighed by the many ways in which Israel bolsters US national interests and the benefits that Israel provides to those interests".

"In particular, we believe that the United States can have strong and productive relations with Arab and other Muslim nations while sustaining its intimate collaboration with Israel, and that US support for Israel is not the primary, and probably not even a dominant reason Islamist terrorists target the United States".

"The long-standing US commitment to Israel has not prevented development of close ties with Arab nations and nor has it made the Arab oil-exporting states any less conscious of their own economic and strategic interest in a reasonably stable flow of oil to world markets, or their eagerness to buy first-class military equipment from the United States".

The Bottom Line

Blackwill and Slocombe wrote that the:

"The conclusion of our analysis is that the US-Israel relationship is a significant asset to US national interests and the potential for even greater US benefits from deeper cooperation is substantial".

An article entitled Does Israel Depend On American Aid? was written back in 2009, but it provides in depth info about the cost of US aid to Israel and the findings might surprise you.

WASHINGTON — Credit rating agency Standard & Poor's says it will not downgrade the U.S. government's credit rating because a Congressional committee failed to come up with a plan to trim deficits by at least $1.2 trillion …

As you most likely already know, the U.S. had its AAA credit rating downgraded for the first time by S&P, which slammed the nation’s political process and said lawmakers failed to cut spending enough to reduce record deficits.

If you already know the bad news, but don’t know exactly the reasons for the downgrading then maybe watch the vid!

From the US Department of Transportation: U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today announced a final rule specifically prohibiting interstate truck and bus drivers from using handheld cell…

A comprehensive study, that was commissioned by the non-profit Governors Highway Safety Association, and funded by State Farm Insurance concluded that there is no conclusive evidence that hands-free cell phone use while driving is any less risky than hand-held cell phone use.

And it also suggests that there is no evidence that cell phone or texting bans have in any way, reduced crashes.

The findings come after nine states have imposed bans on hand-held cell phone use while driving, and thirty four states have imposed texting bans for drivers behind the wheel.

Despite the findings, The Governors Highway Safety Association does not recommend that restrictions on cell phone use or texting be lifted in any of the states where they presently exist.

But it does recommend that those forty one states which don’t ban talking on a cell phone hold off on enacting new legislation.

The study found, and suggests that:

Drivers are frequently distracted by any number of factors ranging from eating, to talking to texting, perhaps as much as 50% of the time they spend behind the wheel.

Drivers adapt by paying more attention to driving and and less to distractions, when the road risk level increases.

States should enforce existing distracted driving laws, but should consider that such enforcement takes away from other traffic enforcement efforts.

Two-thirds of all motorists reported using a cell phone while driving and about one-third of them routinely.

One-eighth of all drivers reported texting while driving, although observational studies during the daylight hours in 2009, suggested that only 1% of all drivers were observed to be texting.

In conclusion

The authors make a number of recommendations including;

Enacting a total ban of cell phone use for novice drivers.

A total ban on texting bans for all drivers.

Greater use of highway engineering solutions, such as rumble strips and automotive technological innovations which are said help reduce distracted driving accidents.

Twenty years after flirting with bankruptcy, Rupert Murdoch is now on the verge of his biggest deal.

The proposed transaction is a complete takeover of UK satellite television operator British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB), which would cement News Corporation’s move away from relying on the cyclical advertising market to drive earnings.

Instead, the BSkyB business, as well as News Corp’s global suite of cable TV channels and satellite TV businesses in Italy, Germany and elsewhere, would put the company squarely in the content and distribution business, and be far less prone to advertising’s vicarious ups and downs.

It would also continue News Corp’s migration towards direct consumer subscription revenues!

* Keith Rupert Murdoch, AC, KSG, born 11 March 1931 is an Australian-American media mogul and the Chairman and CEO of News Corporation.

Risk And Reward

Twenty years ago Murdoch was facing bankruptcy!

He’d invested heavily in BSkyB which had pretty much drained News Corporation, and it was rumored that he recently paid of his mortgages, which caused a great many investors to sweat.

But today Sky is the giant of television and in addition to soccer Sky Arts, National Geographic and the History Channeland much much more.

How Much Does Murdoch Control The Content?

In the two decades that he has owned the channel, not one editor or journalist that I know of has suggested that he interfered or even made suggestions about news coverage.

How incredible!

Now, twenty years later, Murdoch is on the verge of the biggest deal of his life, benefiting from the greatest of all capitalist drivers, namely risk and reward.

At a conference in London recently he used a quote about the lack of business adventure in Britain:

"We’ve got to get rid of the fear of failure in this country. In America, people start things, fail and shake themselves down and start things again. The animal spirit of capitalism is stronger there".

How Did Murdoch Achieve A Monopoly?

In a nutshell, nobody else had the guts, the nerve or the stunning management skill to take on the establishment.

When he was losing literally hundreds of millions on Sky, his competitors were delighted but now that he has made the greatest television success in all our lifetimes, they yell foul.

What The West Is Now Lacking

Surely with the US and Europe facing bankruptcy, what is urgently needed are more people like Rupert Murdoch.

And dare I say it, "No more Obamas!", because he and his ilk have yet to understand Margaret Thatcher who famously said, "Socialism is fine, until you run out of spending other people’s money!".

Perry For President?

There’s certainly an easy case to be made for it because Perry could simply run an economy, employment focused campaign to which Obama would have no answer.

There had been buzz, rumors and speculation as to whether Texas Governor Rick Perry would toss his hat into the ring as a presidential candidate for 2012, despite his prior rejection of the idea, and reports now suggest that the thought is there, and the possibility is not as unlikely as many once thought it was.

Perry recently gave his strongest indication yet that he may run for president.

Unemployment is a huge issue and it promises to be one the top topics going into the 2012 campaign season, with unemployment at 9% now and estimates from experts believing unemployment will not be under 8% by Nov. 2012.

Recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that Texas over the last decade has seen private-sector job growth of 732,800, the highest of all 50 states and DC.

No other state even topped 100,000.

Since the recovery began, 38% of all the jobs created in American have been created in the State of Texas.

Perry is into his third term as Governor, making him the longest serving governor in Texas history and would benefit greatly from Texas’s job growth over the last 10 years as well as his reputation as a social and fiscal conservative.

Imagine a one-theme presidential campaign based on the simple fact that while President Obama was out there destroying American jobs by the millions, Perry was busy creating them in Texas.

All Perry would have to do is point out that what’s holding the U.S. economy back is the job-killing, business-strangling polices of the Obama administration and compare them to his own record in Texas, where low taxes and tort reform have enticed job-producing businesses to relocate.

And tell the American people that he’s ready to put the pedal to the metal and get the rest of the nation out of the ditch as well.

What’s Texas’s Secret?

It has no state income tax.

Low corporate taxes.

It has torte reform.

Does just enough regulating to get the job done.

Cares for the environment without being obsessed by it.

Is the Obama administration trying once again to get more control over the Internet?

According to e-mails released by Judicial Watch on Thursday (June 2, 2011), the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) would appear to be coordinating its public message regarding ‘net neutrality" with Free Press, which is a left wing non-profit organization partially funded by George Soros, and one of whose aim is to reform the Internet.

Free Press and its supporters believe equal access to the Internet is a civil right, and that service providers should be prohibited from charging certain prices for certain speeds.

They argue that when providers have this kind of control, that customers in weaker coverage areas get slower service.

The thrust of their argument seems to be that either people living in high coverage areas should subsidize those in low coverage areas, or that everybody should get lower bandwidth, neither of which makes any sense, or rings true.

Opponents of net neutrality fear that if service is regulated in this way that content will soon be regulated as well!

The FCC

In spite of a federal appeals court ruling in April 2010, that the FCC did not have any authority to regulate the Internet in this way, the FCC voted to move forward with its ‘net neutrality’ program in December.

On its website, the Federal Communications Commission lists among its goals:

Promoting competition.
Innovation.
Investment in broadband services and facilities.

All of which would be impossible under ‘net neutrality’ rules.

Free Press

Free Press openly advocates for ‘net neutrality’ on its website, and describes Internet’s service providers this way:

They want to become the internet’s gatekeepers, deciding which sites go fast or slow and which won’t load at all-based on who pays them the most.

Furthermore, the group has released statements to the press in 2011 with titles such as:

Congress Should Improve, Not Dismantle, Net Neutrality Rules.

Boehner’s Attack on Net Neutrality Not Based in Reality.

Free Press Action Fund: Vote to Eliminate Net Neutrality is a Dangerous Overreach.

Judicial Watch

E-mails obtained by conservative nonprofit group Judicial Watch highlight the communications between the government and Free Press.

One message from Free Press to the FCC dated November 2, 2010 is a request for the FCC Commissioner’s chief of staff to ask his boss to write an op-ed for the Albuquerque Journal ahead of a November 16 hearing about Internet’s access.

"It’s a great way to get the word out and to spark conversations in advance of the event",

Free Press Associate Outreach Director Misty Perez Truedson wrote to the FCC’s John Giusti.

And Giusti complied, responding one week later,

"We’re working on the op ed".

Another document obtained by Judicial Watch via its Freedom of Information Act request includes the summary of a phone conversation between FCC Commissioner Michael Copps and former Free Press President John Silver, which reads in part:

"Silver emphasized that a strong net neutrality rule is critical to preserving the Internet as a vibrant forum for speech, commerce, innovation, and cultural expression",

And a few days later, the FCC voted to continue it’s net neutrality program in spite of the federal appeals court ruling.

Along with the documents, Judicial Watch released a statement explaining its concern with everything it found along with this statement by its President Tom Fitton.

"The American people should be deeply troubled by the fact that the Obama administration, on issue after issue, seems to be run by shadowy leftist organizations. Our government is supposed to be ‘of the people, by the people, and for the people’, not ‘of the Left, by the Left, and for the Left",

Maybe check out another article, relating to the Obama administration’s attempts to get more control over such companies as Apple, Microsoft and Google.

First off, how in the hell can it be legal for a bank to foreclose on a loan if the payments have been made on time? Second, less operating income and falling property values “Compelled the bank to act.” Seriously? We are in …

It certainly is a changing globe!

Five months ago Bank of America filed foreclosure papers on a Florida couple who didn’t owe anything on their home.

The homeowner’s, the Nyergers, were later forced to take the case to court because Bank of America refused to accept their proof that they’d paid cash for their home.

A Collier County judge immediately accepted the family’s evidence, confirmed the Nyergers’ claims, and told Bank of America to pay all legal fees.

The bank refused, and the family’s attorney did exactly what the bank had tried to do to his clients, he seized the bank’s assets.

A truck and sheriffs arrived at the bank with orders to remove assets from the bank and within an hour of being locked out of his bank, the branch manager handed over a check for the legal fees.

Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R) is planning to announce the formation of a presidential exploratory committee on Tuesday in Iowa, and should make the announcement during a press conference in the state capital of Des Moines at 4:45 p.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time), 4/26/2011.

And according to a source close to the congressman, Paul also intends to name the members of his campaign’s Iowa leadership team, during the scheduled press conference,

Paul will be the fifth Republican to take the needed official step toward running for president, and an exploratory committee will allow him to begin assembling his campaign infrastructure in anticipation of a formal candidacy announcement.

Paul appeared poised to enter the race for weeks, and is already scheduled to appear at the first GOP presidential primary debate in South Carolina next week.

Moreover, he also formed a "testing the waters" account earlier this month that allows him to raise funds for a potential campaign.

Paul has already made the rounds in Iowa and New Hampshire courting key activists, and he won a county straw poll in South Carolina just this month.

Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson (R), is expected to compete with Paul for the libertarian vote, but Paul is by far the more well-known candidate in the field and should easily overshadow Johnson.

Paul last ran for president in 2008, and was placed second in the key primary state of Nevada, and it was notable that he appealed to younger voters and for his ability to raise money online with his highly successful "money bomb", which he successfully replicated for his political action committee in February 2011.

* A money bomb is a short burst of fundraising that typically spans a day or just a few hours, and is relies on viral advertising.
