What disturbs me most about this video is that the students from New England College are unable to follow the simple logic behind Santorum’s questions.

Santorum knows that his anti-g**-marriage stance will cost him votes, but he was at least patient and trying to make our next generation think a little.

But sadly, they were unable to.

Why Is That Important?

Because if our students aren’t either encouraged, or convinced to give up on their simplistic thinking, then America will soon lag behind a great many countries.

Consider perhaps the attitude that most US students have toward Israel.

They believe that Israel is the villain and that Palestinian land has been appropriated when in fact a Palestinian people never existed

People were displaced, both Jews and Arabs, but Israel absorbed the displaced Jews whereas Arab countries never absorbed displaced Arabs.

Both displaced peoples were around the same size; about a million people.

Why do they have that attitude?

Because they were seduced by simplistic propaganda when they could have checked out the facts easily and quickly, but they didn’t and don’t.

Why?

Because their professors are rabid left-wingers, and the students are lazy and want to be spoon-fed!

Every year, campus hate groups such as the Muslim Students Association and Students for Justice in Palestine join a festival of lies called the “Israel Apartheid Week” whose theme is that Israel is an apartheid state, in spite of the fact that Israel has Arab members of the Knesset; that Arab Israelis can and do vote without any restrictions; that Arabs use the same toilets, buses and restaurants etc. as Jewish Israelis.

Happily, and alternative is now being presented and it’s an honest one and not simply a propaganda one.

New information reveals that Shalit went on hunger strike shortly before his release, which caused Hamas to fear that they might lose their ‘secret weapon’, which in turn caused them to compromise their exchange deal.

Shalit apparently reached a point of malnutrition that put him in a life threatening situation.

An intelligence source said that “there were those in Hamas who feared that the extreme conditions under which Shalit was being held would mean they could not offer him the help he needed and he would die on them and so they compromised over the details of the prisoner exchange deal”.

And this would explain why he was so thin when released.

Hamas Desperately Needed A Political Boost

The spotlight has been fully on Mahmoud Abbas following his recent appearance at the United Nations General Assembly and his ongoing meetings around the world with high ranking officials and leaders.

And the so called Arab Spring put Hamas in an embarrassing situation with several countries.

In short, Hamas absolutely needed to present Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank with some kind of important political achievement.

Syria, Egypt And Hamas

Hamas is now in the uncomfortable position of having to support both the Syrian masses and the Muslim Brotherhood movement in Egypt because many of those taking part in the uprisings solidly identify with its values, whilst Syria’s ruling regime supports Hamas and acts as its patron.

The Hamas-Fatach Agreement

Hamas’ response to the turmoil in Syria, was to attempt to strengthen its ties with Egypt, and the internal Hamas-Fatah reconciliation agreement was in part a signal to others that it was finally open to compromise

So as soon as Hamas signed the reconciliation deal with Fatah, a path for dialogue with Egyptian intelligence was created and the heads of Egyptian intelligence began to exert heavy pressure on the movement in an attempt to push forward other issues as well.

Egypt And Israel

The terror attacks near to Eilat in August pushed Israel and Egypt closer, and they began discussions on a series of security-related matters.

Egypt wanted to prove that it was still a central player in the post-Mubarak era, and was still able to fulfill the role of the responsible mediator, and its ongoing dialogue with Israel was a factor in promoting the prisoner swap deal.

The Power Struggle Between Hamas And The PA Played Their Part

As far as Hamas is concerned, the Shalit deal will enable it to bring to the Palestinian street a spontaneous wave of joy, because in Palestinian eyes, the prisoners issue is one of the most important matters on the agenda and it enjoys a consensus.

The deal will allow Hamas to show that it too has achieved a national success that will challenge Abbas’ achievements, and the prisoner exchange agreement will be presented on the Palestinian street as a real victory that was a result of Hamas’ armed resistance, in contrast to the diplomatic path being undertaken by Abbas.

Hamas will further argue that although the diplomatic path manages to win international support, it fails to prove itself on the ground, in everyday life, and Hamas was smart in insisting that half of the prisoners that will be released are from the West Bank.

Among the 1,027 Palestinian prisoners set to be released are hundreds of terrorists with blood on their hands, and they will be received on the Palestinian street as heroes, and Abbas, although he welcomed the deal is well aware of the wave of Hamas popularity that is expected to consume the street once the prisoners come home.

Will The Deal Mean More Terror?

Both Israel and Hamas have managed to create a real political achievement, but the big question is whether this wave of support will eventually create more terrorism.

A Reason For Optimism?

The Palestinians know that today, more than ever before, that they now have much to lose, and a person who has much to lose is far less dangerous than somebody that has nothing to lose.

Since the horrific Oslo and Utoya killings, there has been increased media attention on the long-term multi-faceted anti-Israeli incitement by the Norwegian government, and the country’s cultural elite.

Terror More Justified Against Israel?!

After the murder the Norwegian Ambassador to Israel, Svein Sevje, implied in an interview that, "Palestinian terror against Israelis is more justified than terror against Norwegians".

But a few days after a critique by Alan Dershowitz, who wrote:

"I can’t remember many other examples of so much nonsense in such short an interview".

Sevje told Haaretz:

"The history of Norway vis -a-vis Israel is one of great support.

Norway’s Support Of Terror Against Israel

In 2002, several members of the 1994 Norwegian Nobel Committee who granted the Nobel Peace Prize to Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, and Yasser Arafat i.e. Bishop Gunnar Stlsett, Sissel Rnbeck, and former Norwegian Prime Minister Odvar Nordli, expressed their disappointment in Peres, and a fourth member, Hanna Kvanmo, said she wished there was a way to take the prize back from Peres.

Kvanmo also said Peres was on the verge of being considered guilty of war crimes, but she didn’t mention Arafat.

*Kvanmo was a Nazi collaborator who was jailed after World War II, but the Socialist Left party selected her for the Nobel Prize Committee, which is made up of political appointees.

Then bishop of Oslo Stlsett did describe the involvement of Nobel Laureate Peres in human rights abuses as “absurd” but he also remained silent about Yasser Arafat, and the Jerusalem Post published an article noting that the members of the Nobel Committee still stood by their choice of Arafat.

N.B. By that time, Israel had publicized a list of the terrorist operatives that Arafat financed, and also revealed that his signature was on the page listing the amounts paid to the murderers.

AUF – The Workers Youth League

Last month, just one day before the murders in Oslo and Utoya, Norway’s Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere spoke at the anti-Israel incitement camp of the AUF, the youth organization of his Labor party.

He called for the dismantling of Israel’s security barrier even though he knew well that it was built to prevent further murderous Palestinian terror attacks.

* The AUF was formed in April 1927, following the merger of Left Communist Youth League and Socialist Youth League of Norway and its ideology is social democracy and democratic socialism. Its current leader is Eskil Pedersen and many former leading figures in the AUF have gone on to serve in positions in government, such as the incumbent Prime Minister of Norway, Jens Stoltenberg.

The Lutheran Church

Even though it acknowledges the threat of terror against Israel, Norway’s Lutheran Church still demands that Israel’s security barrier be dismantled.

The Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) receives major funding from the Norwegian Foreign Ministry and one can debate whether it is only soft on terror, or an indirect terror promoter, but following the violent Hamas takeover of Gaza in 2006, the NCA criticized the Norwegian government for, "withdrawing economic support" for the "Hamas government".

The Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) did the same thing. It is one of the largest and most highly regarded of Norway’s humanitarian and development NGOs and is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The NPA website promotes the, "Stop the Wall Campaign in Norway".

No Hamas In The Hospital?!

Two extreme left-wing doctors, Mads Gilbert and Erik Fosse, went to Gaza during the Cast Lead War in 2008-2009, claiming that they wanted to provide medical assistance to the Palestinians.

Gilbert and Fosse later failed to mention that the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza where they worked had been used for military purposes by Hamas, but to their embarrassment it later became known that Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and other Hamas executives took over an entire ward of that hospital during the war.

After the September 11 attacks, Gilbert stated that he supported the terrorist attacks on the United States.

He and Fosse were interviewed extensively by the Norwegian and world press, and made serious accusations against Israel and according to Norway’s largest paper Verdens Gang, their trip to Gaza was paid for by the Norwegian Foreign Ministry.

The Deputy Minister Of The Environment

Finally, there is Deputy Minister of the Environment, Ingrid Fiskaa, who delights in visions of terrorism against Israel.

A year before she entered the government, Fiskaa told a newspaper that she:

"sometimes dreams about the United Nations firing rockets into Israel".

Following the brutal murders of their own, one can only hope that the above anti-Semites will now reconsider their attitude towards Jews and terror.

It’s doubtful however that they will change it towards Jews, because that attitude hasn’t changed since WW2 and before!

How Bad Are The Shortages?

Although local Gazans can buy Egyptian poultry that’s been smuggled through tunnels for $1 per kilo, most of them fear diseases and therefore opt for Israeli chickens, which are sold for $1-$2 per kilo, or the more prestigious home-grown poultry, which are sold for $2-$3 per kilo.

Around 350 trucks a day are allowed to pass through the Kerem Shalom Crossing, which is the main transit hub for goods originating from Israel, and although the number is more often than not closer to 250, the reason is not because of the Israeli’s, but because of the lack of demand.

Due to the rise in living standards, many Gaza merchants now focus on importing luxury goods such as tropical fish, bicycles, camping gear and plasma TVs, which come straight from Israel.

Israel doesn’t allow the importation of four-wheel drive vechicles so they’re in short supply.

Does Gaza Export?

Even the export market has boomed recently with strawberries, flowers, potatoes and cherry tomatoes being sold to Jordan and the Persian Gulf states.

And Gaza tradesmen now plan to resume exports of furniture and textiles to the West Bank.

And The Gazan Lifestyle?

Right now the Gazan summer is in full swing and the beaches, just like in Tel Aviv, are swarming with bathers and families with children and hijab-clad women dipping into the cool waters of the Mediterranean Sea and it’s said that there’s relative freedom if Hamas is not provoked.

On the warm evenings, people sit at coffee shops and internet cafes that are becoming abundant and men can be seen checking Facebook while sucking on water-pipes.

And in the background, large screens broadcast live soccer matches from the English and Spanish Leagues.

Hamas Rules

Since Hamas was elected the society has become more conservative, mosques have increased in number, Islamic education is fervently applied to daily life both formally and informally, and almost all media outlets have an Islamic nature.

But Ahmed Nazal, who is a resident said:

"Sure, we have some crazy laws, like women can’t drive motorcycles, sing provocative songs, giggle on the beach or smoke water pipes in public areas, but if you don’t provoke Hamas, you can live here pretty freely".

How Does Gaza Compare To Other Places?

Gaza has never been among the world’s poorest places.
There is near universal literacy.
Relatively low infant mortality.
Health conditions are better than across much of the developing world.

Don’t Believe, Or Doubt Much Of The Above?

Well the low emigration rates from Gaza indicate that despite the hardships, the congestion, and the feeling of living under siege, that the locals still love Gaza and are willing to struggle in order to stay there.

In short, if a person thinks that Israel is an apartheid state, then they know nothing about apartheid, and/or Israel..

Israel is the only tolerant and diverse state in the Middle East and calling its security fence an “apartheid wall” is patently false because the wall is a fence that was put up to keep suicide bombers out, and it has reduced Palestinian terrorist attacks against Jews by over 90%.

These hate weeks are designed to de-legitimize Israel, and they are an attempt to soften it up for the kill.

The declared goal of Hamas and the PLO is to “liberate” Palestine “from the river to the sea”, which in other words means to destroy the Jewish state and to push its inhabitants into the sea.

The growing BDS movement on campus is simply another element in the jihadist assault.

*BDS stands for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions, which are the steps the movement advocates taking against Israel for its purported policies of “apartheid”.

At UC San Diego last year, one of the sponsors of the hate week was the Thurgood Marshall College, named after the famous civil rights leader, and that must be making him turn in his grave because the campaign attacks both Jews and African Americans.

Until NOW, there was no national campaign to counter this sinister agenda which has been financed by student governments and supported by academic departments.

But this year, the David Horowitz Freedom Center is sponsoring counter-protests on more than 50 college campuses, as part of its Islamo-Fascism Awareness Campaign.

Taking inspiration from Jumanah Albahri’s admission of a genocidal agenda in her confrontation with David Horowitz at UCSD, the focus of this spring’s campaign will be Islamic extremists’ genocidal intentions and their campaign of lies during the genocidal Anti-Israel Apartheid Week.

And as the centerpiece of this counter-protest, student groups will confront the “apartheid walls”, with alternative walls composed of the lies Palestinians have aimed at Israel with the intention of destroying the Jewish state.

A great many countries have walls that separate countries, but Israel has the only one that was built to protect it from suicide bombers.

So What’s The Problem?

According to a sworn statement West gave to military investigators, his unit received a tip on August 8, 2003, that insurgents were plotting to assassinate him.

On August 21, 2003, based on West’s order, soldiers snatched Hamoodi from the police station, hauling him to a military detention center.

And his ever so politically correct detractors pointed to the incident below in an attempt to cast a negative cloud over his brilliant and distinguished career.

Hamoodi claimed that his "first interrogator, an Egyptian woman, told him that she’d kill him if he didn’t talk, then kicked him in the leg.

Later, when West arrived at the facility, his interrogators told him that Hamoodi "was not divulging any information" and West was concerned for the impending safety of his soldiers and himself.

Arriving at the interrogation room, West approached Hamoodi, took out his gun, and chambered a round. He then placed it in his lap with the gun barrel facing Hamoodi,

"I had drawn out my pistol as a means of conveying a threat to him for the seriousness of wanting the information", West told investigators.

Hamoodi still didn’t give West or the soldiers the information they wanted, either because he wasn’t part of the assassination plot or because he was being an uncooperative witness.

When that still didn’t work, West admitted to pushing Hamoodi’s head into a clearing barrel full of sand, which is typically used for clearing weapons, after which West put his gun into the same barrel, near Hamoodi’s head and fired.

Lt. Col West immediately put himself on report and legal proceedings were brought against him.

The tactic worked and Mr. Hamoodi came forth with names, location, and the method of attack.

The attack was to occur near the Saba al Boor police station with rooftop snipers from Fallujah, after Hamoodi signaled to them which Humvee contained West.

Soldiers set up surveillance in hopes of catching those involved in the ambush, which was supposedly scheduled for the next day, but the assignation attempt didn’t occur and was probably aborted.

So What Happened Next?

LTC West, who at the time was just short of having 20 years of service, was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

West was processed through an Article 32 hearing in November 2003, where he admitted wrongdoing, and was fined $5,000 over two months for misconduct and assault.

He then submitted his resignation, and was allowed to retire with full benefits in the summer of 2004.

At a hearing, West was asked by his defense attorney if he would do it again.

"If it’s about the lives of my men and their safety, I’d go through hell with a gasoline can".

This action was political correctness gone mad, or madder!

* West’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star; Meritorious Service Medal (two Oak Leaf Clusters); Army Commendation Medal (two Oak Leaf Clusters, one Valor Device); Army Achievement Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster); Valorous Unit Award; Air Assault Badge; and the Parachutist Badge.
