A just released McClatchy/Marist poll indicates that voters are are strongly questioning President Obama’s re-election chances and a majority thinks he will lose to the eventual Republican nominee in 2012.

With just over a year to go until the general election,

49% of voters say they definitely plan to cast their vote against Obama while only 36% say they will definitely support him.

And perhaps most importantly,

53% of independents plan to vote against the president while only 28% are prepared to support him.

Additionally, most voters think the GOP can win in 2012.

52% think the Republican candidate will defeat the president whilst only 38% think Obama will win.

A significant number of Democrats are also pessimistic about the president’s re-election chances as well.

31% of Democrats think the GOP nominee will win next year.

More From The Poll

In the GOP primary race, Texas Gov. Rick Perry leads the field with 30% support.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney places second with 22%.
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann rounds out the top three with just 12%.
Texas Rep. Ron Paul attracts 7%
Newt Gingrich garners 6%.

None of the other candidates received more than 5% and 15% remain undecided.

Perry vs Obama

While Perry leads the Republican pack, he trails Obama by nine points, 50% to 41%.
They split the independent vote, 43% to 43%.

Obama vs Romney

Obama and Romney run virtually neck-and-neck, with the president holding a slim 46% to 44% lead.
Romney leads among independents, 44% to 40%.

Obama vs The Others

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who hasn’t publicly made a decision about a 2012 run, trails the president, 49% to 44%.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, another candidate who isn’t officially in the race, tops the president, 49% to 42%.
And Obama leads Bachmann by double digits, 53% to 40%.

Palin And Giuliani

72% of Republicans don’t want Palin to toss her hat into the ring and 58% don’t want Giuliani to make another run for president which is somewhat surprising given that Giuliani would be expected to run so well against Obama.

The poll McClatchy/Marist surveyed 1,042 adults, including 825 registered voters, from Sept. 13-14 and the margin of error for the sample of registered voters is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

The sample of the 317 Republicans and GOP-leaning independents has a margin of error of plus or minus 5.5 percentage points.

It is most “interesting” that he quotes Sarah Palin (regarding her own emails released in Alaska) to endorse the idea that FOI released emails must not be read “out of context” — because any thinking person should then notice …

Have you noticed how much the left-wing media are downplaying Palin’s emails after going into a feeding frenzy just last week?

This ABC News video will give you a pretty good idea of their predicament.

"The emails show a very engaged Governor Sarah Palin being the CEO of her state. Everyone should read them!". A Palin Aide

The NYT, The Guardian, Mother Jones and others who were frothing at the mouth to get their hands on the emails are really embarrassed now, because they did Palin a big favor and will doubtless increase her popularity.

Mother Jones requested Palin’s gubernatorial emails during the 2008 election:

"Almost three years later, the wait is over".

The Guardian

"Like any other research materials, the emails provide depth and detail more than they make truly shocking revelations – although the extent of Palin’s efforts to build ties with BP, revealed today by the Observer, are among several aspects of her governorship which merit further scrutiny".

LA Times

"The messages include many adoring missives from supporters around the country who, even before she joined the 2008 presidential ticket, saw her as a rising star".

Charles Mahtesian, national politics editor for Politico, said he was sympathetic to critics who said the news media went into unnecessary overdrive on anything Palin-related.

“I think there’s some truth in what the critics on the right say about a double standard for Sarah Palin", he said. “Having said that, she is an incredibly compelling character. And anything she says or does will have a bearing on the 2012 presidential election cycle. So it’s a pretty easy call as a news story".

Investors.com

‘Journalism’: The New York Times and Washington Post have asked their readers’ help in scouring 24,000 emails from Sarah Palin’s governorship, released Friday. They hate her — really hate her.

Imagine a newspaper in 2008 asking readers’ help in perusing Barack Obama’s emails as U.S. senator and Illinois state senator. Or for that matter, help in unearthing his college records. The howls from "mainstream" journalists and Democratic politicians would have been deafening.

A charismatic female leader and mother who is conservative across the board — whose opposition to abortion is backed up by the presence of a special-needs son — spells trouble for the social revolution unleashed in the ’60s.

And what monumental disclosures came in the first hours after the emails’ release? The daughter of the former Alaska governor wanted her mother to pull a state lawmaker’s hair, Palin refers to journalists as the "lame-stream" media and the 2008 GOP vice-presidential nominee wanted a tanning bed.

If lame-stream reporters subjected President Obama to similar probing, we’d bet Americans would find the results a lot more unsettling.

What has so far been found in the emails?

Palin really cared about Alaska and worked endlessly to do her best for it citizens.

She stood up to the big guys to get things done for Alaska.

And she rightfully chastised the MSM.

And we only found out about all that because of the left-wing media’s insistence.

I can well imagine Palin calling the NYT, The Guardian, Mother Jones and other like minded Palin fearers and saying, "Thank you for setting the record straight and for helping raise my popularity".

Whether you like what she has to say or not, Sarah Palin is without doubt the best orator on the circuit.

When Governor Chris Christie was recently asked, "Can you think of one Republican candidate who really inspires you?", he replied, "NO".

Why not Palin?

Palin has two major problems to overcome (only liberal claim she’s done) if she wants to be chosen as the Republican presidential candidate:

Most of her own party believes she too extreme to get elected President.

Just in case you need a refresher:

California Attorney General Jerry Brown, the state’s Democratic candidate for governor, left a phone message in early September for a union official whose endorsement he was seeking, but apparently forgot to hang up!

Because a lively discussion between him and some staffers afterward is caught on tape. And either Brown or a staffer — there is some dispute — uses the word "w****" to describe his Republican rival Meg Whitman.

The recording, obtained by the Los Angeles Times from the L.A. Police Union, is muffled and hard to hear. But the word "w****" is definitely thrown around several times at the notion of Whitman making a special deal with union officials to protect their pensions.

"Do we want to put an ad out? … That I have been warned if I crack down on pensions, I will be – that they’ll go to Whitman, and that’s where they’ll go because they know Whitman will give ‘em, will cut them a deal, but I won’t," Brown said.

Sadly and somewhat surprisingly, similar misogynistic comments have recently been coming on a regular basis, and nearly all of them were from progressive bastions and liberal women.

Lyons is a truly horrible excuse for a human being!

The Same Respect

Regardless of political inclination, and whether or not you agree with the above ladies of the right, they have the same right as every other woman to be treated with respect and dignity, and every time anyone liberal, conservative, man or a woman engages in sexist smears of this type, all women lose and so does society!.

Just in case you need a refresher:

California Attorney General Jerry Brown, the state’s Democratic candidate for governor, left a phone message in early September for a union official whose endorsement he was seeking, but apparently forgot to hang up –

because a lively discussion between him and some staffers afterward is caught on tape.

Stephanie Miller

Last month, liberal talk show host Stephanie Miller laughed uproariously when a female guest on her show said that if she ever met Michelle Malkin,

“I would kick [her] right in the nuts, and warned, Wear a cup, lady”.

Democratic Rep. Janis Baird Sontany of Nashville

Referring to her female GOP colleagues she said,

“You have to lift their skirts to find out if they are women. You sure can’t find out by how they vote”.

Cinta Wilson – Salon

“Sarah Palin may be a lady, but she ain’t no woman” and went on to say about Palin, “the Alaska governor as a Christian Stepford wife in a s*** librarian costume and the GOPs hardcore pornographic centerfold spread”.

The Huffington Post

“Meg Whitman is Bush in a skirt”.

The Washington Post

Ann Coulter is often referred to as Mann-coulter on political blogs in an effort to de-feminize her, and MSNBCs Keith Olberman once referred to Malkin as

“a mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick”.

Gene Lyons – Salon

In a Salon column last month headlined “Forget about the tea party what about the crumpets?” Gene Lyons wrote that,

“The most entertaining aspect of the 2010 election season has been the rise of the right-wing cuties political celebrities whose main qualification is looking terrific on television. From where I sit, in a comfortable chair in front of the tube, the GOP Cupcake Factor has enlivened an otherwise dreary campaign season”.

And the cuties in question are a former Governor (Palin), a current Congresswoman (Michelle Bachmann) and a current Senatorial candidate (Christine O’Donnell.)

And Lyons take on O’Donnell was this:

“Everybody knows some poor fool who married a woman like that”.

Politico reports that a statement issued by Winning Our Future, an independent group supporting the former speaker's candidacy, launched an all-out attack on columnist Charles Krauthammer for his criticisms of Gingrich. …

It will all be about the economy.

If you watch Fox News, even occasionally, then you probably know who Dr. Charles Krauthammer is, but you might not know that he is paralyzed from the waste down, something that was caused by an accident when he was in his early twenties.

Which is almost the opposite of many of his critics who seem to suffer some form of of paralysis from the neck up.

The administration has now decided to openly attack Fox News, which as many well known journalists have recently stated, "is juvenile, and like taking a knife to a gunfight".

Krauthammer is an MD and a lawyer, and won the Pulitzer Prize for his writing, and he is neither a fear monger nor an extremist.

He is a seasoned and highly articulate intellectual, who is both careful and forthright in his analyses, and he is never derogatory, and is a fiscal conservative.

He is reported to have made these comments when he recently spoke at a gathering of the Center for the American Experiment and I say "reported to have" because I wasn’t there, but there is no reason to suggest that the following isn’t true, and Krauthammer has made no move to deny the comments.

A Summary Of Charles Krauthammer’s Comments

1) Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual. He is not to be underestimated. He is a cool customer who doesn’t show his emotions. It’s very hard to know what’s behind the mask.

The taking down of the Clinton dynasty was an amazing accomplishment. The Clintons still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.

2) Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton . He has a way of making you think he’s on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he DOES!

3) Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to make something out of himself, but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can’t be straightforward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. He has a heavy hand, and wants to level the playing field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada .

4) His THREE main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, and NATIONAL HEALTHCARE by the Federal government.

He doesn’t care about the auto or financial services industries, but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth.

Most scary is his healthcare program, because if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type single-payer system, the costs will go through the roof.

The only way to control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada . God forbid!

 5) He has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one around him has ever even run a candy store. But they are going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and other industries. This obviously can’t work in the long run. Obama is not a socialist; rather he’s a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate, but will govern from the hard left. Again, watch what he does, not what he says.

6. Obama doesn’t really see himself as President of the United States, but more as a ruler over the world. He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their agendas. He sees moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America , as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President ever who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!

7. He is now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill (and pain) will not come due until after he is reelected in 2012. He would like to blame all problems on Bush from the past, and hopefully his successor in the future. He has a huge ego and I believe he is a narcissist.

8. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge strong. Republicans are pining for another Reagan, but there will never be another like him.

Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl (except for his terrible speech in February) are the future of the party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere and intelligent, but needs to really be seriously boning up on facts and info if she is to be a serious candidate in the future. We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense, and state’s rights.

9) The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We are spending trillions that we don’t have. This could lead to hyperinflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn’t work, nor will the stimulus package. These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama’s allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.

10. The election was over in mid-September when Lehman brothers failed, fear and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain, and the mantra of change caused people to act emotionally. Any Dem would have won this election; it was surprising it was as close as it was.

11) In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power.

If it’s under 8%, the Dems continue to roll.

If it’s between 8-10%, it will be a dogfight.

It will all be about the economy.

Articles and comments about Hilary Clinton’s low profile, and lack of visibility are appearing more frequently in the media, and not without good reason.

Every other Secretary of State that I can think of was very high profile and travelled with their President on almost every overseas trip, but Obama is keeping Hilary almost cloistered, and if he does give her a job then it’s one that will damage her politically.

Before being appointed Secretary of State, Hilary was known to be very pro-Israel, but the only high profile job that she has so far been was given was to heavily criticize its settlement’s policy and demand that it stop building new ones and tear down existing ones.

According to CBS News Hilary won 54% of the Jewish vote during the primaries compared to Obama’s 43%, so causing Hilary to alienate herself from the Jewish vote would be the politically shrewd if he fears her.

May’s opinion polls gave Hilary a 71% approval rating, compared to 65% for Obama, so a strategy of keeping her out of the public’s eye and damaging her whenever possible would make a lot of sense if things start to look iffy for 2012.
The way that Hilary is presently being handled in some ways mirrors Bibi Netanyahu’s handling of Avigdor Lieberman, but the reasons for such handling are very different.

Bibi knows that Lieberman is perceived by Obama and most European heads of state as extremely right wing, and Lieberman doesn’t mince his words and could therefore spell trouble.

Netanyahu therefore uses Ehud Barak who is the head of the left leaning Labor party to cover the United States, and has Lieberman deal with the Russians. Lieberman also gets to do European trips because he is the head of Israel’s biggest coalition party and Bibi sees Europe as far less important anyway.

Obama is at -8 in today’s Rasmussen poll and he has a very bumpy road ahead of him with the upcoming health reform and many other issues too. Unemployment might hit 14% this year and many Americans believe that Obama’s policies are burying the country so deep under debt that it may never recover.

Sarah Palin just took a big gamble and 71% of Republicans now say they would vote for her for president.

Tapping Hilary to be Secretary of State was a brilliant move, but if Obama overplays his hand and continues to keep her cloistered then her situation will eventually become untenable and she may be forced to resign and then we might find ourselves having to choose between Hilary and Palin in 2012.

Updated August 5, 2009

According to a just released Rasmussen opinion poll, if America were to elect a female president in the near future, it would be Hillary Clinton.

In a hypothetical match-up between the two most formidable female candidates in their respective parties, Clinton would defeat former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin 51% to 39%.

What is perhaps even more interesting, is that Clinton would defeat Obama by six points, 48% to 42%.

Women overwhelmingly favor Clinton over Palin, 59% to 32% whereas most men favor the GOP ex-governor by eight points, 48% to 40%.

Palin would get 71% of the Republican vote, and Clinton would capture 81% of Democrats.

Sarah Palin, who was a little known Alaska governor until she was chosen to be Senator John McCain’s running mate on the 2008 Republican presidential ticket, announced yesterday that she will be resigning her office at the end of this month.

Although she gave no specific reasons for her decision she did say that since last year’s election that she has been "subjected to the politics of personal destruction through more than a dozen frivolous ethics complaints", and added that “This decision came after much consideration and I really don’t want to disappoint anyone with this announcement".

Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will assume the governor’s office.

It is widely assumed that she is stepping down in order to make a run for the Whitehouse in 2012, something which it would be impossible for her to do if she continued as Alaska’s governor.

Alaska is four hours behind ECT (east coast time) and if she wanted to visit places like New Hampshire or Iowa she’d have to spend a whole day just getting there and back.

Moreover it’s no longer as good to be a governor as it once was because of the nation’s economic collapse, and almost every governor in the country is now in serious trouble. Palin would not have been immune to similar problems, and already came under heavy flak for implementing a hiring freeze in January.

Palin is an excellent orator that drew huge enthusiastic crowds wherever she spoke during the presidential campaign, and in his concession speech McCain thanked Palin and called her "one of the best campaigners I’ve ever seen, and an impressive new voice in our party for reform and the principles that have always been our greatest strength".

Charlie Cook, who is a Washington-based independent political analyst said, "Palin made the right decision if she is serious about running for the White House in 2012. She could be a good governor or she can be a serious candidate for president, but she can’t do both well", and Washington-based Republican consultant Matt Mackowiak, said "Palin can now focus exclusively on political matters, international travel and boning up on policy. While she will lose some of the gravity that comes with being a governor, that is far outweighed by her inherent star power and the logistical freedom that she gains".

Former Bush adviser Karl Rove said Palin may find her retirement more politically demanding than her old job as governor.

“Everybody’s going to want to have her come campaign, or appear or make speeches and she no longer has the useful excuse of saying, ‘Look, I would love to help you on that but I got to pay attention to my job,’” Rove told FOX News. “Now she’s going to be torn. It’s going to be very hard for her to say no continually to people who want her to get on the long flight out of Alaska and come down to lower 48″.

Gen. Douglas MacArthur said, “We’re not retreating, we’re advancing in another direction”.

Love her or hate her, if you haven’t heard her speak live to a crowd then you can’t come close to understanding Sara Palin’s crowd appeal. She’s not just better than McCane and Biden but she electrifies an audience even more than Obama does and she generates enormous enthusiasm at her events.

Kathy Seals, who attended the Richmond event, said she “admired Ms. Palin for unabashedly speaking the truth” and Ray Gilson of Corapeake, N.C., who attended the Virginia Beach rally said, “She’s intelligent, she’s adorable and she has the audacity to speak her mind and I’ve never loved a politician like I love her. I want her to be president someday!”.

A large part of Palin’s appeal is that she loves America and when she says she loves the national anthem, the Navy bases and small towns and the smell of cut grass, she speaks from the heart and you can feel it.

And taking a dig at Obama she’ll often add, “and I don’t care what anyone else says about small-town U.S.A. You guys, you just get it”. After she told more than 10,000 people at the ‘Richmond International Raceway’ that, “John McCain is always, always proud to be an American’ she went on to lead the crowd in a chant of “U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.”!

Palin’s speeches don’t suggest that the way to avoid future mistakes is by looking at previous ones and she glosses over uncomfortable details and instead of talking about Bush and the White House she says things such as, “America, doggone it, unfortunately we’re deep in debt and Barack Obama would put us even deeper in debt. We’ve got to reverse this. America, we cannot afford another big spender in the White House”.
Whether or not Palin’s partisan zeal will turn off some independent voters in closely contested states like New Hampshire and Pennsylvania is debatable but the Democratic polling in both states shows Ms. Palin with high negative ratings amongst independents.

Although she doesn’t go into a lot of policy detail she can raise excitement in an instant. When asked in Virginia Beach if McCain’s really has the ability to lead the country out of its present financial crisis she replied, “He’s got the guts to confront the $10 trillion debt that the federal government has run up and we will balance the budget by the end of our term”.

Regardless of whether she goes into specifics or not the audiences affection for her is palpable and when she talks of her own personal trials and tribulations the audience grows quiet. She describes how frightened she was when she first learned that their baby would have special needs and talks with emotion of how they finally decided to have the child after talking, praying and reflecting.

“There are the world’s standards of perfection, and that’s what you see in some magazines, and then there are God’s standards and God’s standards are the final measure and every child is beautiful before God”.

The personal narrative is a natural segue into a comment on Obama’s view of abortion, “It’s not negative and not mean-spirited in a campaign to check out our opponent’s record” and adds with a smile, “I’ll let you judge for yourself”.

When Bush was on the campaign trail he was a plain-spoken and energetic campaigner who solidified his appeal in the 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns by using a ‘with-us-or-against-us message’ and Palin’s message is similarly directed at “good, hard-working, patriotic Americans”.
