I call it "bad polling". But there's a very real fear out there, and it isn't of 'terrorist violence' as you lamely put it. It's a fear of telling someone you don't know, who HAS your phone number, that you WON"T be voting for Obama. In this age, that's enough to be worried about a future episode of someone calling you a racist publicly.
